ESD Engineer (Hardware)

TL;DR

ESD Engineer (Hardware): Driving the development of I/O library design, simulation, characterization, and validation for advanced mixed-signal products with an accent on chip-level and IP-level ESD methodology. Location: Must be based in or able to commute to Austin, Texas, or Edinburgh, Scotland.

What you will do

• Design, simulate, and optimize advanced I/O circuits and ESD protection structures.
• Characterize and model I/O libraries to support mixed-signal design flows.
• Maintain and improve I/O libraries used across multiple design teams.
• Apply expertise in ESD and latch-up requirements to ensure robust silicon performance.
• Drive ESD sign-off for chip-level and block-level designs.
• Collaborate with foundry partners and lead internal ESD strategies.

Requirements

• MSc in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Strong track record in advanced mixed-signal CMOS circuit design.
• Proficiency in ESD circuit design, layout, and device-level testing.
• Deep understanding of latch-up mitigation and physical verification.
• Experience with Cadence schematic capture, layout, and simulation tools.
• Must have legal authorization to access controlled technical data without export license sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience in IBIS model generation.
