Legal Intern (AI & Cybersecurity)

TL;DR

Legal Intern (AI & Cybersecurity): Researching and analyzing emerging AI legislation and cybersecurity regulatory frameworks in North America with an accent on public sector compliance and government standards. Focus on distilling complex regulatory text into business-friendly guidance and supporting FedRAMP/StateRAMP enablement.

Location: In-office in Washington D.C. (3-5 days a week)

What you will do

• Analyze emerging AI legislation and frameworks across North America, including US federal initiatives, state regulations, and Canada’s AIDA.
• Monitor cybersecurity mandates such as CISA’s Secure by Design guidelines and SEC incident reporting rules.
• Support the Public Sector legal team in reviewing and updating compliance materials for FedRAMP, StateRAMP, and IRAP.
• Draft legal memos and policy briefs outlining the impact of tech regulations on product roadmaps, including AI Gateway and zero-trust services.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled as a 1L or 2L in an ABA-accredited law school (graduating 2027 or 2028).
• Strong demonstrated interest in technology law, public policy, cybersecurity, and AI.
• Excellent legal research and writing skills.
• Ability to work in the Washington D.C. office 3-5 days a week.
• Commitment to a minimum 12-week summer internship.

Nice to have

• Prior experience in government, public policy organizations, or technology companies.
• Familiarity with hirify.global’s products, cloud computing infrastructure, and internet mechanics.
• Coursework or certifications in data privacy (CIPP/US), cybersecurity law, or national security law.
