Lead Accountant (Finance)

TL;DR

Lead Accountant (Finance): Leading monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes with an accent on IFRS and Local GAAP compliance. Focus on overseeing GL, AP, and intercompany activities, coordinating statutory audits, and managing a team of accountants.

Location: Hybrid (3 days per week in Berlin office). Must have the legal right to work in Germany.

What you will do

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes in accordance with IFRS and Local GAAP.
• Oversee GL, AP, and Intercompany (IC) activities, including booking, payments, and reconciliations.
• Coordinate and support statutory audits and tax filings across international entities.
• Manage, mentor, and develop a team of accountants, fostering accountability and growth.
• Drive continuous improvements, standardization, and automation of accounting processes and internal controls.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders in controlling, tax, and treasury to ensure smooth financial operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or ACCA certification is a plus.
• 6–8 years of accounting experience with strong exposure to GL, AP, and intercompany processes.
• 2–3 years of experience leading or mentoring a team.
• Working experience with HGB (highly preferred) and IFRS.
• Proficiency with ERP systems (preferably NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills.
• Full professional proficiency in English and German (written and spoken).
• Legal right to work in Germany (no visa sponsorship provided).
