What you will do

• Lead and manage indirect tax areas, including sales/use, property, and excise taxes.
• Prepare and file all indirect tax returns and maintain audit-ready workpapers.
• Manage and optimize the Avalara tax engine and reporting systems.
• Research and resolve complex tax issues and prepare technical research memos.
• Collaborate with the Head of Tax and Finance teams to implement tax planning strategies.
• Maintain sales/use tax permits for new locations and manage external tax advisors.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of indirect tax experience with a multinational company or international public accounting firm.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Must be based in South San Francisco and eligible to work in the US.
• Proficiency with Avalara and NetSuite is highly preferred.
• Strong analytical and communication skills to lead training and provide technical updates.

Nice to have

• Graduate degree or professional tax certification.
• Experience with marketplace facilitator tax laws.
• Proficiency in Checkpoint, Microsoft Office, and Google G Suite.
