Salary: $260K – $325K + Equity

What you will do

• Provide strategic legal advice on payment product design, rollout, and financial infrastructure.
• Advise on U.S. and international regulations, including AML/BSA, money transmission, and card network rules.
• Draft and negotiate complex commercial agreements with processors, acquiring banks, and fintech partners.
• Partner with Compliance and Risk teams to develop scalable policies and controls.
• Support product expansion into new jurisdictions by assessing cross-border licensing.
• Stay current on digital commerce regulations to guide product strategy.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) and active bar membership in a U.S. jurisdiction (CA or NY preferred).
• 8+ years of legal experience (law firm or in-house), with at least 3 years in payments or fintech.
• Deep knowledge of payment infrastructure, card network rules, and merchant acquiring frameworks.
• Proven track record of negotiating agreements with financial institutions.
• Familiarity with international frameworks like PSD2 and e-money regulations.
• Must be based within commuting distance of New York City, Seattle, San Francisco, or Los Angeles.
