What you will do

• Analyze borrowers' credit, income, assets, and collateral to determine creditworthiness.
• Review complex tax returns, perform income calculations, and conduct appraisal reviews.
• Ensure compliance with secondary market, private investor, and private mortgage insurance guidelines.
• Mentor and train new hires while reviewing loans to clear conditions within SLAs.
• Respond to audits and perform quality control reviews on mortgage files.
• Maintain data integrity of loan files and meet KPIs set by the underwriting manager.

Requirements

• Must be based in the United States to comply with federal mortgage regulations.
• 5+ years of conventional mortgage underwriting experience.
• 3+ years of FHA DE underwriting experience (TOTAL Scorecard and Manual).
• Deep knowledge of Fannie Mae/DU, Freddie Mac/LPA, and FHA guidelines.
• Strong understanding of federal regulations including RESPA, TILA, ECOA, TRID, and CFPB.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Nice to have

• 10+ years of mortgage underwriting experience.
• 5+ years of FHA DE experience.
• Current active VA designation.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
