Senior Financial Institutions Underwriter (Insurance)

Location: Madrid, Spain; the role requires the legal right to live and work in Spain and includes some travel for broker and client meetings.

What you will do

• Underwrite and grow the Financial Institutions book of business profitably across Spain, Portugal, and Italy.
• Assess risks, coverage, terms, and conditions, including referral business and liability-focused insurance placements.
• Build and expand broker and customer relationships and negotiate insurance conditions for large and midsize projects.
• Develop underwriting strategies, guidelines, standards, processes, tools, and new or updated products.
• Collaborate with the Madrid team, General Manager, Liability, Business Development, Technical Underwriting, and Claims functions.
• Drive continuous improvement, process efficiency, data accuracy, and portfolio profitability.

Requirements

• Proven underwriting experience and knowledge of the regional insurance market.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, make quick decisions, and maintain underwriting integrity and profitability.
• Strong interpersonal skills and experience collaborating with partners in Spain and Southern Europe.
• Proactive approach to identifying new business opportunities and achieving profitable growth.
• Fluency in Spanish and good written and spoken English are required.
• Legal right to live and work in Spain is required.
