Junior Data Engineer

TL;DR

Junior Data Engineer: Designing, building, and supporting integrations between an enterprise case management platform and supporting systems with an accent on reliable data exchange, system performance, and end-to-end workflow continuity. Focus on maintaining data accuracy, optimizing SQL queries, and supporting modernization efforts.

Location: Hybrid with one to three days per week in Chantilly, VA or Woodbridge, VA.

What you will do

• Build and maintain data integration pipelines, APIs, and middleware services.
• Design scalable data models and schemas.
• Optimize SQL queries, database structures, and backend performance for large-scale systems.
• Implement data validation, auditability, and controls, including role-based access and security compliance.
• Develop logic to cleanse, transform, and normalize data into a standard data model.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation for all development work.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3+ years of experience in data engineering, including building ETL/ELT pipelines and SQL query optimization.
• Proficiency in data modeling, integration patterns, and middleware architecture.
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Excellent written, verbal, and cross-team communication skills.
• Top Secret clearance or High Risk Public Trust Suitability

Nice to have

• Experience with Palantir or optimizing data-intensive applications.
• Background in system migrations or modernizations, particularly in secure or regulated environments.
• Knowledge of investigative or laboratory data workflows.
