Salary: CA$163,685 – CA$200,000

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of 8-12 platform and backend engineers.
• Drive technical strategy and architectural decisions for core platform services including IAM, search, and logging.
• Partner with product management to define roadmaps and align team delivery with business goals.
• Establish and enforce engineering best practices for distributed systems, security, and observability.
• Manage team performance, hiring efforts, and career development through coaching and 1:1s.
• Oversee incident response and ensure operational excellence for mission-critical services.

Requirements

• 3+ years of engineering management experience leading teams of 5+ engineers.
• 8+ years of total software engineering experience with a strong technical background in distributed systems or backend infrastructure.
• Deep expertise in identity and access management technologies (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, SAML, RBAC).
• Proven track record of delivering and scaling mission-critical systems with high availability requirements.
• Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS) and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Ability to engage in architectural discussions and provide high-level technical guidance.

Nice to have

• Deep knowledge of Golang and Go-based microservices at scale.
• Experience with search infrastructure such as Elasticsearch or OpenSearch.
• Background in security engineering or building systems for regulated environments.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures (Kafka) and observability tools (Datadog, Prometheus).
