TL;DR

VP Legal (Healthcare): Building and managing the company's first in-house legal function to support commercial scale and mitigate risk with an accent on enterprise SaaS contracting, HIPAA compliance, and corporate governance. Focus on scaling legal operations for growth, negotiating complex health system agreements, and serving as a strategic business partner to executive leadership.

Location: Must be based in or able to work onsite in New York City

What you will do

  • Act as the primary legal advisor for commercial, corporate, data, and employment law across the U.S. and Europe.
  • Structure and negotiate complex enterprise SaaS and BAA agreements with leading health systems.
  • Manage and define the strategy for outside counsel across corporate, IP, and regulatory domains.
  • Oversee corporate governance, including cap tables, board consents, and subsidiary structures.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with HIPAA, data privacy, and healthcare-specific regulatory frameworks.
  • Develop legal templates, playbooks, and policies to support rapid organizational scaling.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of legal experience with a mix of law firm and in-house roles.
  • JD and active bar membership (New York preferred).
  • Significant experience negotiating enterprise SaaS and BAA contracts.
  • Proven track record of building or scaling a legal function from scratch in a growth-stage environment.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to translate legal risk into operational decisions.
  • Must be able to work onsite in New York City.
