TL;DR
R&D Software Engineer (Mainframe): Building, testing, and supporting high-quality security and compliance solutions for IBM mainframe environments with an accent on complex code modification, debugging, and software design. Location: Must be based in the USA (Lisle, IL; Durham, NC; or Plano, TX) with legal authorization to work in the U.S.
Salary: $108,000 – $172,800

What you will do
- Apply technical expertise to inform the product roadmap and experiment with new technologies.
- Perform complex code modification, testing, and debugging within the mainframe environment.
- Adopt a test-first approach to software development, including unit and module testing.
- Partner with stakeholders such as Product Owners and Solution Architects to design robust solutions.
- Mentor and coach junior team members while fostering continuous team improvement.
- Participate in code and design reviews and contribute to iteration demos.
Requirements
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
- 8+ years of experience in software development, specifically in the IBM mainframe environment.
- Proficiency in IBM Assembler/Metal C (zOS or zVSE).
- Experience implementing JCL for batch processes.
- Skilled in debugging with tools such as XDC or IPCS.
- Strong background in testing large-scale software and complex configurations.
Nice to have
- Experience with IBM C, ISPF CLIST, or REXX.
- Proficiency in RESTful APIs and Object-Oriented programming.
- Experience working within an agile development team.
