Software Engineer Intern (AI)

Location: Toronto, Canada; remote-friendly with no in-office mandate. In-person collaboration is encouraged.

Compensation: CAD $30–50 per hour.

What you will do

• Design and build systems for real-time, AI-powered customer interactions.
• Develop features combining LLMs, data systems, APIs, and user-facing applications.
• Build evaluation, monitoring, and continuous-improvement systems for AI behavior.
• Optimize production systems for low latency, high throughput, and reliability.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and machine-learning teams to ship production-ready solutions.
• Own problems end to end, from identifying gaps to delivering solutions.

Requirements

• Experience with one or more of Python, Go, Java, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
• Interest in user-facing products, backend systems, or real-time and data-intensive applications.
• Familiarity with modern web development, APIs, or system design fundamentals.
• Understanding of reliable and maintainable systems, including UI/UX quality, API design, or performance considerations.
• Curiosity about LLMs, AI agents, or production AI systems; prior machine-learning experience is not required.
• Strong problem-solving ability, initiative, and a bias toward action.

Nice to have

• Experience using AI-powered developer tools such as Cursor or Claude Code.
• Strong agentic coding workflows and experience collaborating with AI tools.
