What you will do

• Serve as a strategic legal advisor for leadership and the production, marketing and administrative teams.
• Negotiate and draft a wide range of complex commercial agreements.
• Manage the company’s intellectual property portfolio in collaboration with external trademark agents.
• Manage disputes and pre-litigation matters; coordinate external counsel when needed.
• Promote legal innovation and operational efficiency, by developing scalable templates, playbooks, and process improvements.
• Provide guidance to administrative staff and/or less experienced team members.

Requirements

• You have been a member of the Québec Bar or a lawyer qualified in another jurisdiction for 9 to 12 years, with experience in a law firm or a company, ideally in the entertainment or tech industry.
• You have a strong knowledge of commercial and intellectual property law.
• You have great interpersonal and communication skills at all management levels.
• You have a developed business sense, and are comfortable assessing risk and finding practical solutions.
• Bilingual in written and spoken English and French given the number of contracts written in English.
• You are a team player with a can-do attitude and show initiative.
• You are a tech enthusiast, enjoy improving tools and embracing new technologies.
• You have strong organizational and time management capability skills, a high level of discretion, and pay close attention to details.
