What you will do

• Own the technical direction and delivery for your team, setting roadmap priorities and defining architecture.
• Write and review code, spending meaningful time in the codebase.
• Hire, coach, and develop engineers, running effective 1:1s and giving direct feedback.
• Drive operational excellence for the systems your team owns, including monitoring, incident response, and reliability.
• Collaborate with product and design to translate customer problems into technical solutions.
• Identify and pay down technical debt, making pragmatic decisions about when to invest in foundations versus when to move fast.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience at a venture-backed startup or top-tier technology company, with at least 2 years in a technical lead or engineering management role.
• Strong systems design and architecture skills.
• Experience building and scaling backend systems, data pipelines, or platform infrastructure in production.
• Track record of hiring and developing strong engineers.
• Strong product intuition and high ownership.
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) and modern backend technologies (Python, TypeScript, Go).

Nice to have

• Experience building or leading teams that work with LLMs, agentic systems, or applied AI/ML in production.
• Background in applied research or experience bridging research and production engineering.
• Experience with enterprise customers, particularly in finance, legal, or consulting domains.
