Lead Software Engineer (Underwater Robotics)

Location: Fareham, United Kingdom; onsite role within the hirify.global Seaeye Underwater Robotics business.

What you will do

• Design and implement software solutions for underwater robotics applications, subsea vehicles, and associated robotic functions.
• Lead multidisciplinary software and engineering teams delivering technically complex projects.
• Develop software architectures for complex systems and maintain a system-level approach.
• Define system-level requirements and derive lower-level requirements for implementation.
• Plan team workloads, estimate delivery effort, manage resources and budgets, and delegate tasks.
• Act as a technical authority, interface with customers, and ensure software quality and industry best practice.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of experience as a Senior Engineer.
• Degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Broad understanding of software from embedded systems through to applications, with experience on industrial, vehicle, or vessel systems.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary software engineering teams and developing architectures for complex systems.
• Understanding of modern software methods, safety concepts, software quality, standards, and cybersecurity impacts on design.
• Ability to communicate with customers and non-technical stakeholders, estimate work, mentor engineers, and manage delivery responsibilities.

Nice to have

• Exposure to IP video, video routing, control software, real-time information systems, DDS, or message queues.
• GUI development with .NET or Qt, Visual Studio application development, and customer-facing APIs using web technologies.
