Senior Software Engineer, Embedded UI (AI) (Embedded UI/AI): Designing and delivering Roku platform experiences such as screensavers, wallpapers, trivia, and featured experiences with an accent on embedded software, cloud integration, and AI-driven capabilities. Focus on building proof-of-concept prototypes, productionising scalable solutions, and solving technical issues across UI, APIs, content management, and backend systems.
Location: Cambridge, United Kingdom; hybrid work with office attendance generally required Monday through Thursday and flexible remote work on Fridays.

What you will do
- Design and develop platform experiences including screensavers, static and dynamic wallpapers, trivia, and featured experiences.
- Build proof-of-concept prototypes, iterate rapidly, and adapt validated ideas into production-ready implementations.
- Use AI, machine learning, and large language model technologies to create new platform capabilities.
- Collaborate with UI/UX design, backend engineering, product management, and business leadership.
- Work across UI development, content management, cloud development, and cloud backend integration.
- Investigate, diagnose, and resolve technical issues while contributing to API design decisions.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in a software engineering environment and experience working in an embedded environment.
- Demonstrated project work using AI/ML and LLM technologies.
- Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, React Native, Python, BrightScript, or related technologies.
- Experience productionising solutions across content management, UI, cloud development, and cloud backend integration.
- Knowledge of operating system concepts including memory management and multithreading, plus API design experience.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, with strong cross-functional communication skills.

- Consumer electronics experience in media, content, or advertising product development.
