TL;DR
Engineer 1, Embedded Software, Product Design and Engineering (Safety-Critical Embedded Software Testing): Performing independent verification of airborne pressure sensor software in a DO-178C Level A programme with an accent on requirements-based testing, Python automation, structural coverage, and audit-ready evidence. Focus on deriving boundary, robustness, failure-injection, integration, and regression tests, maintaining bidirectional traceability, and qualifying verification tools under DO-330/ED-215.

Location: Fully onsite at the HQ in Groby, Leicestershire, UK. Candidates must have the right to work in the UK. Fixed-term role initially for one year, with a likelihood of extension.

What you will do

  • Develop and maintain verification plans, procedures, test cases, scripts, reports, and coverage matrices for a DO-178C Level A programme.
  • Derive requirements-based normal, boundary, robustness, failure-injection, timing, integration, system, and regression tests.
  • Maintain bidirectional traceability across requirements, design, tests, software builds, test data, scripts, and results.
  • Perform statement, decision, and MC/DC coverage analysis; investigate coverage gaps, dead code, unintended functionality, and failures.
  • Build Python-based test automation, reusable libraries, test data, and result-processing utilities.
  • Automate laboratory test equipment and support verification-tool qualification under DO-330/ED-215.

Requirements

  • Experience verifying safety-critical or high-integrity embedded software on target hardware.
  • Practical knowledge of DO-178C or a comparable safety lifecycle, including requirements-based testing, independence, traceability, and objective evidence.
  • Python test automation experience with embedded C/C++ development and debugging.
  • Experience creating and reviewing controlled test plans, procedures, cases, scripts, reports, and traceability evidence.
  • Knowledge of boundary-value, equivalence-partition, state-transition, decision-table, robustness, and fault-injection testing, plus structural coverage.
  • Right to work in the UK is required; additional eligibility requirements may apply.

Nice to have

  • DO-330/ED-215 tool qualification, Robot Framework, or structural-coverage tools such as Parasoft C/C++test, LDRA, or Cantata.
  • Experience with pressure sensors, avionics, calibration, compensation algorithms, or pressure-control systems.
  • Worst-case execution-time analysis, SPI, I2C, UART/RS232, CAN, IBM DOORS, MISRA C/C++, static analysis, or hardware-in-the-loop testing.
  • CI/CD pipeline configuration with GitHub Actions.
