Principal Engineer (AdTech)

Principal Engineer (AdTech): Driving the architectural vision for next-generation AdTech products that power promotions for restaurants and local shops globally with an accent on scalability, reliability, and high-performance distributed systems. Focus on bridging business goals with technical execution, leading architectural initiatives across multiple squads, and championing Agentic coding practices to enhance developer productivity.

Location: Must be based in or be able to relocate to Berlin, Germany (Hybrid: 2 days/week in office).

What you will do

• Define technical goals and deliver architectural solutions for the AdTech domain in collaboration with Product and Engineering leadership.
• Lead cross-tribe architecture discussions, reviews, and identification of systemic improvements.
• Set and maintain high engineering standards while mentoring Senior and Staff engineers through best practices.
• Drive technical decision-making via RFCs, ensuring alignment on scalable, future-proof solutions.
• Conduct tribe-level reviews focusing on reliability, security, and latency optimization for high-traffic systems.
• Champion the adoption of Agentic coding practices to boost team productivity and system resilience.

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in building and delivering scalable, distributed systems.
• Strong expertise in cloud infrastructure, specifically AWS.
• Solid understanding of storage systems (SQL, NoSQL, caching) and data pipelines (streaming & batch).
• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and influence architecture at a large scale.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools and workflows.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.

Nice to have

• Deep experience in AdTech systems including low-latency ad serving, measurement, and large-scale auctioning systems.
