Senior Embedded Software Engineer (Autonomous Driving)

Location: Sunnyvale, California, USA; hybrid working with in-person collaboration in offices, vehicle workshops, and labs

Salary: $210K–$260K annually, plus equity

What you will do

• Design, develop, and execute automated tests for onboard operating systems, middleware, sensors, and integration points.
• Validate embedded software on hardware-in-the-loop environments across multiple compute platforms.
• Build test coverage for new and existing features in collaboration with software engineers.
• Debug and triage system-level issues across software and hardware boundaries using logs, metrics, and controlled experiments.
• Contribute to CI pipelines, reusable test frameworks, and developer self-service testing.
• Expand early validation to reduce risk during full-vehicle testing and improve development velocity.

Requirements

• Experience testing embedded software systems, ideally on Linux or QNX.
• Ability to develop automated tests in Python, C++, or a similar language.
• Hands-on experience with embedded hardware and hardware/software interactions.
• Understanding of automation, integration testing, and system validation principles.
• Ability to debug complex system-level problems and collaborate across software, hardware, and infrastructure teams.
• Ability to work in the Sunnyvale hybrid setup with in-person collaboration as required.

Nice to have

• Experience with hardware-in-the-loop environments, sensor or data pipelines, CI/CD systems such as Buildkite, robotics, autonomous systems, or real-time software.
