Senior Server & Desktop Support Engineer

Senior Server & Desktop Support Engineer (Infrastructure): Maintaining and optimizing complex Microsoft infrastructure services with an accent on Active Directory, Windows Server, and hybrid identity management. Focus on automating processes using PowerShell, resolving high-impact 3rd line technical issues, and ensuring system security and resilience in an enterprise environment.

Location: Must be based in Morden, UK; 5 days onsite required.

Salary: £400–£450 per day (Inside IR35).

What you will do

• Design, administer, and secure Active Directory environments including GPO and security hardening.
• Manage Windows Server estates including builds, patching, upgrades, and migrations.
• Support and engineer desktop environments, including device management and imaging.
• Manage DNS, DHCP, and support hybrid identity environments using Azure AD/Entra ID.
• Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate infrastructure processes.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex 2nd and 3rd line infrastructure issues.

Requirements

• Industry experience within the public sector, council, or local government is required.
• Strong hands-on experience with Active Directory in complex environments is required.
• Proven background supporting Windows Server estates is required.
• Solid understanding of hybrid identity models (on-prem + Azure) is required.
• Experience with desktop engineering and device lifecycle management.
• Strong PowerShell scripting and automation skills.
