Senior Research Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Menlo Park, CA; on-site

Base salary: $160,000–$240,000 per year, plus equity eligibility and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead research initiatives addressing complex perception problems in unstructured home environments.
• Architect computer vision algorithms and neural network architectures optimized for real-time edge deployment.
• Develop 3D geometry-based vision systems for precise spatial understanding and autonomous navigation.
• Build scalable, reproducible machine learning infrastructure and improve algorithm accuracy, speed, and robustness.
• Deploy sophisticated ML pipelines on resource-constrained robotic devices without performance degradation.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with Hardware, Electrical, and Systems teams on perception strategy and product development.

Requirements

• Advanced expertise in computer vision and machine learning, with specialization in 3D perception, multi-class object detection, SLAM, and robotics controls.
• At least 4 years of experience applying computer vision, machine learning, or robotics to real-world problems.
• Expert-level proficiency in Rust or C++, Python, PyTorch, and modern machine learning frameworks.
• Experience shipping production-grade research with measurable impact and architecting scalable, maintainable codebases.
• Experience leading technical projects and mentoring engineering teams.
• Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, electrical engineering, physics, or a related field.
