What you will do

• Lead the design and operation of Ruby on Rails services on AWS and Kubernetes.
• Guide the platform's transition from single-tenant to a scalable multi-tenant architecture.
• Write clean, production-grade code and establish technical standards for the engineering team.
• Partner with DevOps to optimize CI/CD, deployment workflows, and operational efficiency.
• Improve production readiness through advanced monitoring, incident response, and performance tuning.
• Mentor engineers in cloud-native development and production ownership.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience building and operating production-grade Ruby on Rails applications.
• Must reside in or commute to the NYC, DC-Baltimore, or Minneapolis-St. Paul metro areas.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure (EKS/ECS, RDS, IAM).
• Practical experience deploying and operating in Kubernetes environments.
• Solid proficiency in relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/CloudFormation).
• Knowledge of background job processing systems like Sidekiq.
• Familiarity with observability tools such as Datadog or New Relic.
• Experience modernizing large legacy Rails codebases.
