What you will do
- Lead the design and operation of Ruby on Rails services on AWS and Kubernetes.
- Guide the platform's transition from single-tenant to a scalable multi-tenant architecture.
- Write clean, production-grade code and establish technical standards for the engineering team.
- Partner with DevOps to optimize CI/CD, deployment workflows, and operational efficiency.
- Improve production readiness through advanced monitoring, incident response, and performance tuning.
- Mentor engineers in cloud-native development and production ownership.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience building and operating production-grade Ruby on Rails applications.
- Must reside in or commute to the NYC, DC-Baltimore, or Minneapolis-St. Paul metro areas.
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure (EKS/ECS, RDS, IAM).
- Practical experience deploying and operating in Kubernetes environments.
- Solid proficiency in relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to have
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/CloudFormation).
- Knowledge of background job processing systems like Sidekiq.
- Familiarity with observability tools such as Datadog or New Relic.
- Experience modernizing large legacy Rails codebases.
