What you will do

• Design and implement features for REST APIs, microservices, and distributed task/job processing systems.
• Write and maintain scalable, performant, and secure code shared across platforms.
• Contribute to product and core backend improvements by suggesting and executing enhancements.
• Improve engineering standards, tooling, processes, and security.
• Debug production issues across various services and levels of the stack.
• Participate in on-call rotations to ensure effective resolution of critical technical issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience building web applications.
• Experience implementing highly-available distributed systems and microservices.
• Proven track record of delivering scalable backend APIs.
• Must be based in San Francisco.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a bias towards action.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering or Computer Science.
• Technical leadership experience leading project teams and setting technical direction.
• Experience architecting solutions to ambiguous problems with significant impact.
• Ability to learn other coding languages.
