Salary: $180,000–$250,000 + equity.

What you will do

• Design and develop foundational backend services powering the commerce platform.
• Partner with product teams to translate requirements into scalable software solutions.
• Write clean, maintainable software and infrastructure-as-code (IaC).
• Optimize the robustness and scalability of existing distributed systems, APIs, and databases.
• Conduct code and design reviews, establish testing strategies, and document system architecture.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building large-scale, fault-tolerant distributed systems and API microservices.
• Expert-level programming skills in Python, Go, or Rust.
• Demonstrated ability to design and improve system efficiency, stability, and scalability.
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD pipeline integration.
• Experience with version control practices.
• Must be based in or be able to relocate to San Francisco.

Nice to have

• Experience with payment processors like Stripe.
• Experience with Kubernetes or containerization.
• Background in building and operating data infrastructure such as Kinesis, Airflow, or Kafka.
