Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada (Hybrid)

Expected salary range: $155,000–$180,000 per year.

What you will do

• Design and implement robust, maintainable architectures for agentic AI applications with clear separation of concerns and long-term system health.
• Own complex features and initiatives through the full SDLC, from requirements through production.
• Build production-grade backend services and web frontends using modern JavaScript frameworks, with focus on reliability, performance, and user experience.
• Mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, establish engineering practices, and provide technical leadership on architectural decisions.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to shape technically sound solutions.
• Improve testing, CI/CD, observability, and adoption of relevant emerging technologies.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience delivering complex software from concept to production, including end-to-end ownership.
• Expert-level fluency in Go, Java, C#, or an equivalent language, plus strong knowledge of TypeScript or JavaScript, React or a similar framework, and HTML/CSS.
• Deep experience designing scalable distributed systems and microservices.
• Experience leading technical teams and guiding engineers through SDLC phases.
• Hands-on experience with API design, event-driven architectures, and message brokers in complex integrated environments.
• Practical experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP; Docker or Kubernetes; and ownership of CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical ideas clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
• High standards for code quality, testing, and documentation.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with real-time streaming technologies such as Apache Kafka, Pulsar, or hirify.global PubSub+.
• Experience with high-availability architectures, performance optimization, or distributed systems at scale.
• Knowledge of enterprise integration patterns and middleware.
• Exposure to domain-driven design and pragmatic application of DDD.
• Experience influencing technical direction across teams or organizations without direct authority.
