Staff Software Engineer, Investors (AI)

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada or Waterloo, Ontario, Canada

Salary: $205,600–$257,000 CAD annually in Toronto or Waterloo.

What you will do

• Own the long-term technical health and success of the Investors business unit.
• Solve complex, ambiguous problems and create clear technical paths for the organization.
• Identify systemic failure patterns and drive architectural improvements in scalability and reliability.
• Align multiple teams on major technical decisions across financials, tax, compliance, reporting, and deal workflows.
• Define safe and effective ways for engineers to use AI tools across the organization.
• Set engineering standards and mentor senior engineers through influence and technical leadership.

Requirements

• Expertise in building distributed systems.
• Strong technical leadership experience and the ability to lead through influence rather than authority.
• Comfort guiding technical direction across Python/Django, React, Postgres, JVM languages, gRPC, and AWS.
• Ability to anticipate future technical roadblocks and design systems for long-term business growth.
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience is recommended.
• Ability to work in Toronto or Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.
