Principal Software Engineer (Confluence AI)

Location: Remote, Canada, or the United States, including San Francisco, Seattle, and Mountain View. hirify.global can hire in countries where it has a legal entity.

Base salary: US$174,051–US$273,775 depending on geographic pay zone; Canada CA$172,800–CA$225,600.

What you will do

• Lead technical strategy and complex initiatives for Confluence AI from architecture and prototyping through launch and iteration.
• Design scalable, resilient full-stack systems across user experiences, backend services, and AI integrations.
• Apply generative AI, retrieval, agents, evaluation, and safeguards to improve the usefulness, accuracy, and consistency of AI experiences.
• Build automated evaluations, representative datasets, production monitoring, and continuous improvement loops based on user feedback.
• Partner with product, design, analytics, engineering, and machine learning teams to improve adoption, retention, and customer value.
• Mentor engineers, lead design reviews, communicate technical tradeoffs, and develop reusable engineering capabilities.

Requirements

• Principal-level software engineering experience with the ability to lead complex, multi-quarter initiatives.
• Strong full-stack engineering experience across frontend, backend, AI infrastructure, and analytics.
• Experience designing scalable and resilient systems with performance, reliability, security, and cost requirements.
• Experience applying generative AI, retrieval, agents, evaluation, grounding, context retrieval, orchestration, or safeguards.
• Ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical functions and communicate strategy, tradeoffs, and results clearly.
