Salary: $228,000–$340,000

What you will do

• Lead the technical strategy for applying AI models across the product suite, including testing unreleased frontier models.
• Guide engineering squads in implementing AI solutions and best practices across the organization.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including security, data science, and product design to influence product direction.
• Identify opportunities where emerging machine learning research can be leveraged within the legal tech space.
• Lead tech talks and study groups to foster a culture of constant learning and AI expertise.

Requirements

• Must be able to work onsite in Oakland, CA 3 days per week.
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 6 years focused on ML/AI.
• Proven track record leading significant AI projects, specifically utilizing LLMs in production.
• Advanced proficiency in Python or similar scripting languages.
• Ability to translate complex technical AI concepts for diverse stakeholders and collaborate across teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) and hybrid search approaches for custom data sets.
• Knowledge of vector or graph databases for knowledge representation.
• Background in multimodal AI (image, audio, video processing).
• Experience building autonomous agents, including tool use and exception handling.
• Familiarity with SaaS architecture and distributed systems.
