What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and scale a team of engineers building and maintaining checkout flows.
• Define the technical roadmap focused on conversion optimization, performance, and platform reliability.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Data teams to drive experimentation and A/B testing frameworks.
• Integrate and maintain payment processors while ensuring strict PCI compliance and fraud protection.
• Oversee engineering standards, CI/CD, observability, and technical debt management.
• Align with leadership on product strategy, metrics, and long-term technical priorities.

Requirements

• Must be located in or willing to relocate to San Francisco, CA
• 8+ years of software engineering experience in commerce or consumer-facing platforms
• 3+ years of engineering management experience leading cross-functional teams
• Proven expertise in online commerce, checkout flows, and payment systems
• Data-driven mindset with experience in analytics, metrics, and conversion optimization
• Strong communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders

Nice to have

• Experience in commerce, payments, or growth-focused companies
• Expertise in performance instrumentation and web optimization
• Familiarity with React, TypeScript, and server-side rendering
• Track record of scaling and mentoring senior-level engineers
