Staff Software Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Remote employment in the United States, limited to CA, GA, NY, NC, TN, TX, and WA; San Francisco, CA and New York City, NY have a separate compensation range. Finalists may be invited to the San Francisco office for onsite interviews.

Salary: $200,000–$240,000 per year in most remote locations; $230,000–$280,000 in San Francisco, CA and New York City, NY.

What you will do

• Lead ambiguous technical projects from problem definition through delivery.
• Set technical strategy and make architectural decisions for systems spanning multiple teams.
• Build, test, deploy, and continuously improve software, with daily or more frequent releases.
• Identify cross-team gaps and drive strategies to address them.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, internal customers, and stakeholders.
• Mentor and sponsor engineers while improving production reliability and investigating incidents.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience.
• Production experience with Python and strong coding fundamentals.
• Experience leading complex, multi-team technical projects and setting technical direction.
• Strong product judgment, systems thinking, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Experience working effectively on remote teams with strong async and written communication habits.
• Ability to work remotely from the United States in CA, GA, NY, NC, TN, TX, or WA.

Nice to have

• Production experience with Vue.
• Experience with accounting systems, double-entry bookkeeping, or revenue recognition.
• Experience with fintech, agentic or AI-assisted production systems, and third-party integrations.
