Middleware Platform Engineer

TL;DR

Middleware Platform Engineer: Responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of enterprise integration and messaging platforms, including GoAnywhere MFT, AWS ElastiCache, AWS MSK (Kafka), and IBM MQ with an accent on platform operations, automation, and incident/problem management. Focus on enabling secure data movement and event-driven integration at scale while maintaining high availability and disaster recovery readiness.

What you will do

• Administer, configure, and support GoAnywhere MFT, including workflows, secure file transfers, and user onboarding.
• Operate and maintain AWS MSK (Kafka) clusters, including brokers, topics, and client connectivity.
• Administer IBM MQ environments, including Queue Managers, channels, and clustering.
• Manage AWS ElastiCache (Redis/Memcached), including scaling, failover, and performance optimization.
• Ensure high availability, resilience, and disaster recovery readiness.
• Build and maintain observability with metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, and alerts for Kafka/MQ/MFT/Cache.

Requirements

• 3 - 5 years’ experience in middleware/integration/platform engineering roles supporting production systems.
• Hands-on administration experience with at least two of the following: Kafka (AWS MSK), GoAnywhere MFT, AWS ElastiCache (Redis/Memcached), IBM MQ.
• Strong understanding of messaging/integration concepts, including queues/topics and delivery semantics.
• 3 - 5 Years of experience with Linux administration, networking fundamentals, and troubleshooting distributed systems.
• Working knowledge of AWS core services and constructs, including VPC, IAM, and EC2.
• Scripting/automation skills (Python/Shell) and familiarity with IaC (Terraform/CloudFormation).

Nice to have

• Deep expertise in one or more platforms: IBM MQ, Kafka/MSK, GoAnywhere MFT, ElastiCache Redis.
• Experience implementing DR strategies and performing resiliency testing.
• Certifications: AWS Certified SysOps/DevOps, IBM MQ certification, Confluent/Kafka training, security fundamentals.
