Chief Economist

TL;DR

Chief Economist (Business Analytics): Lead the hirify.global Insights Group to conduct advanced economic and labor market research using platform and external data with an accent on entrepreneurship, innovation economics, and AI integration. Focus on designing and executing a forward-looking research agenda, leveraging AI tools to scale research output, and influencing public policy and company strategy.

Location: Hybrid work from Denver, San Francisco, New York, Las Vegas, Atlanta, or Phoenix, USA with office presence 2-3 days per week.

Salary: $184,000 - $260,000 annually depending on location and experience.

What you will do

• Lead a team of economists and data scientists to develop and execute research on small business and labor market trends.
• Conduct quantitative analysis using econometrics, Python, and SQL on platform and external data.
• Implement and champion AI tools to enhance research speed, scale, and impact.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and represent research externally to media, policy makers, and partners.
• Serve as a public spokesperson and advocate for small business economic issues.
• Form research partnerships with academic and industry organizations.

Requirements

• Must be based in the USA with ability to work hybrid from specified cities.
• Graduate degree in Economics or related quantitative discipline; Ph.D. preferred.
• Strong communication skills tailored to diverse audiences including media and policy.
• Advanced quantitative skills including Python and SQL; experience with AI-powered coding and writing tools.
• Proven leadership experience managing economists, data scientists, or analysts.
• Experience in labor economics, entrepreneurship research, and public data analysis.

Nice to have

• Experience with survey design and qualitative research methods.
• Experience manipulating and analyzing administrative data.
