Senior-Staff Software Engineer (C++)

Location: Onsite at the HQ in San Mateo, California, with flexibility to work from home

Salary: $130,000–$280,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Improve engineering productivity across the company through Bazel and C++ infrastructure.
• Optimize Bazel and onboard services to a large-scale build system.
• Define the engineering tooling roadmap.
• Own Kubernetes deployment and development tooling.
• Build software and hardware testing frameworks.
• Provide technical support to engineering teams and help grow the team.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in a similar role.
• Strong experience with C/C++ build systems such as Make, CMake, or Meson.
• Deep understanding of C/C++ compilation, linking, and dependency management.
• Experience with build system migration and modernization.
• Proven Bazel experience in large-scale monorepo environments, including custom Bazel rules and C/C++ toolchains.
• Knowledge of Bazel remote execution and caching strategies.

Nice to have

• Experience with bzlmod and cross-platform C/C++ builds.
• Experience optimizing build performance and incremental compilation.
• Background in firmware development and deployment.
