What you will do

• Build and maintain evaluation frameworks and metrics for document models, LLMs, OCR, and structured extraction.
• Design and curate datasets and scalable preprocessing pipelines for various document types.
• Train and fine-tune transformer-based OCR, vision-language models, and open-source LLMs for document understanding.
• Deploy ML models using modern inference runtimes and build monitoring and fallback mechanisms.
• Develop retrieval and chunking strategies for document structures and optimize RAG pipelines.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, and designers to define AI opportunities and deliver production AI features.

Requirements

• Must be located in Spain, Germany, Ukraine, or Portugal for remote work.
• 5+ years of Python experience with expertise in document intelligence ML models and pipelines.
• Experience with traditional document AI models (LayoutLM, Donut, DocFormer) and vision-language models with OCR capabilities.
• Proficiency deploying and optimizing models with inference frameworks like vLLM, TGI, TensorRT, or ONNX Runtime.
• Strong understanding of coordinate systems and spatial reasoning for document field detection.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with PDF parsing libraries and document preprocessing pipelines.
• Experience fine-tuning open-source models for domain-specific document tasks.
• Knowledge of evaluation metrics such as F1 and exact match for document understanding.
