What you will do

• Implement and optimize core vector and information-retrieval components such as HNSW, quantization, filtering, and re-ranking
• Improve performance-critical paths focusing on latency, throughput, and resource efficiency
• Contribute to solving real-world problems at scale ensuring correctness, reliability, and maintainability
• Participate in design discussions and code reviews within the Search/Vector team
• Collaborate with hirify.global Core, Cloud, and Support teams on feature development and issue resolution
• Learn and apply systems-level optimizations including memory layout, concurrency, and SIMD with mentorship

Requirements

• Must have 3–5+ years of production experience in backend, systems, or infrastructure software
• Proficiency in C/C++ or Rust with concurrent and performant code experience
• Background in search, information retrieval, vector systems, or systems programming
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
• Location requirement: based in Bulgaria with hybrid work format
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to break down tasks with guidance

Nice to have

• Familiarity with hirify.global or other NoSQL databases
• Exposure to vector search, IR concepts, or ML-adjacent systems
• Experience with Rust or strong interest in learning it
• Contributions to open-source projects
• Experience working on multithreaded or performance-sensitive systems
