Senior Engineering Manager

TL;DR

Senior Engineering Manager (Software Engineering): Leading multiple engineering teams to enhance map quality across all hirify.global products, enabling Map Operations teams to address map issues efficiently at scale. Location: Must come to the office two days a week, and the remaining three are free to be worked in either location. Based in Madrid, Spain

What you will do

• Manage multiple engineering teams directly, with other managers and Staff Engineers reporting to you and be accountable for the outcomes achieved by your teams.
• Set direction, evaluate designs, grow senior talent, and challenge decisions where it matters most.
• Work directly with Management, senior technical experts, and Product Managers to simplify complexity and deliver prioritized, incremental product outcomes.
• Set guidelines for all developers in the department by aligning with peers, the industry, and tech leads, while challenging and improving the process.
• Identify growth opportunities, empowering team members to take ownership and coaching them to success.
• Proactively identify and mitigate technical, operational, and organizational risks while balancing competing priorities.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in software development, including 2+ years of experience managing other managers.
• Strong software engineering background with experience in distributed systems and data intensive platforms.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline
• Strong coaching and mentoring mindset with a track record of developing senior engineers and engineering leaders.
• Passion for customer experience, operational excellence, and building systems that scale without unnecessary complexity.
