TL;DR

Senior Product Engineer (EdTech): Developing and advancing the core of an automation tool for school management, focusing on high-impact features and system reliability. Location: Remote (Must be based in the UK, visa sponsorship not provided)

Salary: £70,000 – £80,000

What you will do

  • Collaborate with product and engineering leads to solutionize feature requests for the Arbor Workflows product.
  • Consistently deliver on an ambitious product roadmap.
  • Lead the creation of detailed documentation with diagrams for new features.
  • Drive the development and implementation of advanced tests, ensuring high test coverage.
  • Produce well-architected, efficient, and scalable code using industry-leading patterns.
  • Take a leadership role in code reviews and pair programming sessions, mentoring colleagues.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience designing and building high-performance, asynchronous services using Node.js and modern TypeScript.
  • Advanced understanding and application of software engineering principles (SOLID, DRY).
  • Deep, hands-on experience designing, deploying, and optimising cloud-native solutions using the AWS Serverless ecosystem (Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, Event Bridge, Fargate).
  • Proven ability to architect and write scalable RESTful APIs within a service-oriented ecosystem.
  • Proactive problem-solver with a strategic, systems-level mindset regarding infrastructure, security, and cost optimisation within AWS.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities through collaboration and mentorship.
  • A team player with a driven personality who actively participates in discussions.
  • Expertise in various relational database technologies.
  • English: Good written and spoken English required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with enterprise solutions and large-scale systems.
  • Familiarity with Scrum methodology or other agile development processes.
  • Experience with building, deploying, and running services on AWS.
  • Experience with Docker and containerisation.
  • PostgreSQL experience.
  • Familiarity with software best practices such as Refactoring, Clean Code, Domain-Driven Design, Test-Driven Development.
