TL;DR

Strategic Relationship Manager (Fintech): Managing strategic relationships with Cardnet’s high‑value merchants, focusing on income retention and growth by understanding clients’ acquiring models and payment ecosystems. Focus on commercial strategy, contract management, and development of sophisticated acquiring and acceptance propositions.

Location: London, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Edinburgh. Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites. Our goal is to visit our clients, so we encourage 60% of our time to be non-home based.

Salary: Competitive, will be discussed at interview stage

What you will do

  • Own strategic relationships with Cardnet’s most complex and high‑value merchants.
  • Lead commercial strategy across the portfolio, retaining and growing revenue through pricing, contract management, and renewals.
  • Develop and deliver acquiring and acceptance propositions, working with Product, Technology, Operations, Risk, and Legal.
  • Drive strategic growth across merchant services, finding opportunities in value‑added services and emerging payment capabilities.
  • Partner with Sales and Go‑to‑Market teams on complex opportunities.
  • Take ownership of performance against income and growth targets.

Requirements

  • Significant merchant acquiring / payments experience in a senior client-facing role.
  • Commercial ownership across retention and growth, including pricing discussions, contract negotiations, and RFP responses.
  • Proven negotiation and partner management skills, comfortable influencing at Board / senior leadership level.
  • Ability to manage a portfolio commercially and operationally.
  • Delivery approach — able to lead the transition/implementation of new relationships.

Nice to have

  • Experience handling RFP‑led competitive opportunities.
  • Understanding of risk and operational resilience in acquiring.
  • Confidence operating across the wider payments ecosystem.
  • Strong communication style.
