Government Incentives & Economic Development Lead (AI)

Location: Hybrid (San Francisco, CA), requiring office presence at least 25% of the time. Visa sponsorship is available for candidates eligible to work in the US.

Salary: $230,000 - $300,000 USD

What you will do

• Lead incentive projects across multiple jurisdictions and manage a portfolio of incentives from identification through negotiation, award, and ongoing compliance.
• Analyze expansion plans, capital projections, and hiring timelines to determine incentive eligibility and develop a prioritized strategy.
• Arrange and attend meetings with government officials, economic development authorities, and utility representatives to advance incentive discussions.
• Prepare and submit applications, manage the grant and approval process, and review incentive contracts.
• Own post-implementation compliance, including designing procedures, managing reporting, and responding to inquiries and audits.
• Monitor federal, state, and local tax policy and legislative developments, advising leadership on strategic implications and emerging programs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Public Policy, Economics, Real Estate, or a related field.
• 8–12+ years of progressive experience in economic development incentives, government incentives advisory, or site selection.
• Direct experience negotiating and securing incentives for corporate infrastructure investments, ideally including technology or compute infrastructure.
• Deep knowledge of the US incentives landscape and tax policy environment across federal, state, and local programs.
• Demonstrated experience preparing and presenting to government officials and economic development authorities.
• Strong analytical capabilities including financial modeling, cost-benefit analysis, and incentive valuation.

Nice to have

• MBA, JD, CPA, or other advanced degree or professional certification.
• Experience in infrastructure site selection, development, or operations.
• Prior experience at a Big 4 accounting firm, economic development consultancy, or corporate economic development team at a technology company.
• Familiarity with energy and utility procurement, power infrastructure, and utility incentive programs.
• Experience with Qualified Opportunity Zones, New Markets Tax Credits, Inflation Reduction Act credits, or CHIPS Act incentives.
