Senior Product Design Manager, Payroll

Location: Hybrid in Denver, New York, or San Francisco; remote in Toronto, Ontario. Employees based in Denver, San Francisco, and New York are expected to work from the office approximately 2–3 days per week or more depending on the role.

Salary: $172,000–$237,000 per year in Denver and most remote locations; $202,000–$279,000 per year in San Francisco, Seattle, and New York.

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end product design for Payroll, helping businesses pay their teams correctly, on time, and with confidence.
• Define and communicate the long-term UX vision and align multiple teams around product strategy and roadmaps.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Research, Data, Operations, Compliance, and other functions to turn complex payroll workflows into simple experiences.
• Lead AI- and automation-centered initiatives that reduce manual payroll work while preserving accuracy, trust, and user agency.
• Set design quality standards, scale shared patterns and principles, and influence long-term platform health.
• Manage, mentor, and grow a team of designers while championing Payroll's integration with Benefits, Time & Attendance, and third-party tools.

Requirements

• 8–10+ years of product design experience, including at least 3 years leading and managing design teams.
• Experience designing for complex domains such as financial products, healthcare, or similarly regulated environments.
• Experience setting UX direction across multiple teams and influencing product strategy.
• Ability to align cross-functional partners and represent design in high-stakes strategic discussions.
• Strong systems thinking and experience simplifying interconnected workflows.
• Clear communication, storytelling, and design decision-making skills.

Nice to have

• Experience evaluating and improving AI-generated design directions.
• Experience leading AI- or automation-centered product initiatives, including handling uncertainty and errors in high-stakes contexts.
• Experience guiding a team through an AI workflow transition and establishing new design standards.
