Principal Software Engineer (AI)

TL;DR

Principal Software Engineer (AI): Building and scaling data pipelines for customer insights using LLMs on Copilot, focusing on data models, APIs, and integrations. Focus on performance, reliability, and cost optimization across diverse workloads.

Location: Must live within a 50-mile commute of a designated hirify.global office in the U.S. or 25-mile commute of a non-U.S., country-specific location and work from the office at least four days per week.

Salary: USD $188,000 – $304,200 per year (New York City metropolitan area)

What you will do

• Architect scalable, low-latency systems/data pipelines for ingesting, processing using LLM(s), and serving customer insights.
• Design, build, and maintain robust pipelines for product usage, provide insights to improve Copilot features.
• Own orchestration, monitoring, and DevOps for critical data workflows.
• Design data models and APIs that enable customer loop insights using LLM(s).
• Collaborate with privacy, security, and responsible AI teams to ensure customer insight is safe, transparent, and user-controlled.
• Optimize for performance, reliability, and cost across diverse workloads and geographies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
• Experience with large scale data systems.
• Experience working with AI platforms, frameworks, and APIs.
• Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and user experience.
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers.

Nice to have

• Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
• Passion for learning new technologies and staying up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in web, data systems and AI.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing requirements and deadlines.
• Proven ability to collaborate and contribute to a positive, inclusive work environment, fostering knowledge sharing and growth within the team.
• 6+ years’ experience building scalable services, including securing applications and infrastructure on top of cloud infrastructure like Azure, Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics.
• 6+ years’ experience in OSS (Open-Source Software) data technology, such as Kafka, Spark, Flink.
