TL;DR

Software Development Manager (AWS Networks): Leading an established software team to deliver critical safety services for AWS network deployments with an accent on designing and delivering enhancements to services that model the impact of changes on network health. Focus on enabling faster and safer change, supporting security requirements for OS updates, and new network designs for ML.

Location: Must be based in Sydney, Australia, with quarterly travel for global team collaboration.

What you will do

  • Lead a high-performing software team responsible for critical safety services for AWS network deployments.
  • Design and deliver enhancements to services that model the impact of changes on network health.
  • Manage sprint planning for in-flight projects and prepare director-level reports.
  • Review high-level solution designs and coordinate their review with key stakeholders.
  • Lead reviews of operational metrics to ensure continuous improvement in service security, availability, and effectiveness.
  • Underpin AWS's commitment to security requirements in applying OS updates to network devices and support new network designs, such as those for ML.

Requirements

  • Location: Must be based in Sydney, Australia.
  • English: B2 required.
  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
  • 7+ years of engineering experience.
  • 8+ years of experience leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services.
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations.

Nice to have

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of Software Engineers.
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams.
