Forward Deployed Engineer (AI): Serving as a critical interface between the central AI Application Modernization Factory and application teams, driving the modernization of key applications with an accent on technical leadership, accelerated adoption of AI-assisted SDLC practices, and lasting upskilling. Focus on designing and developing modernization efforts to AWS cloud-native architectures, making significant code contributions, and managing the people/process side of technical change.

What you will do

• Embed with application teams to drive design, development, and delivery of modernization efforts to AWS cloud-native architectures.
• Act as subject matter expert for AI Modernization Factory tools, fostering adoption of AI-assisted SDLC practices.
• Build rapport, identify bottlenecks, recommend solutions, and manage change within diverse engineering teams.
• Make significant code contributions, focusing on architectural scaffolding, CI/CD, IaC (Terraform), and complex integrations.
• Serve as primary feedback channel to improve the central factory's capabilities.
• Ensure adherence to engineering standards, including Twelve-Factor App principles and DevSecOps practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of progressive experience in Software Engineering, focusing on enterprise applications and modernization.
• Strong full-stack proficiency (front-end, back-end, database, infrastructure) with expertise in Python, TypeScript, C#, or Java.
• Deep practical experience building and deploying scalable applications on AWS, with strong Terraform proficiency.
• Proven ability to influence technical direction and drive organizational/process change within engineering teams.
• Hands-on mastery of CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) and DevSecOps best practices.
• Solid understanding of modern architectural patterns (microservices, serverless, event-driven) and Domain-Driven Design.

Nice to have

• Prior experience in a consulting, Staff Engineer, or Forward Deployed role, focused on technical adoption or modernization.
• Direct experience training or mentoring software engineers in new technologies or methodologies.
• Hands-on experience with modern UI frameworks like React or NextJS.
• Experience utilizing AI-assisted coding tools (Cursor, Claude Code).
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) and serverless architectures (AWS Lambda).
