Staff Engineer (AI Developer Experience)

Location: Remote within the United States

Salary: $170,000–$220,000 annually, plus a target annual bonus of 15% of base salary and long-term incentive opportunities

What you will do

• Lead the evolution of the AI Developer Experience across the software development lifecycle.
• Evaluate, adopt, and govern AI development tools, including code generation, in-editor assistance, and agentic workflows.
• Improve developer productivity across TypeScript/Node and Python codebases, including build times, linting, type checking, pre-push hooks, conformance checks, and Nx orchestration.
• Own local and cloud-based devcontainer strategy and maintain secure, reproducible development environments.
• Improve testing frameworks, developer-facing infrastructure, shared libraries, configuration systems, CI/CD pipelines, onboarding, documentation, and observability.
• Mentor engineers, gather feedback from application teams, and lead durable improvements to engineering workflows.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, including meaningful experience in developer tooling, platform engineering, or developer productivity.
• Deep familiarity with TypeScript/Node and Python ecosystems, package management, and build tooling.
• Experience with Nx or similar monorepo tooling and improving productivity in large codebases.
• Hands-on experience designing and improving devcontainer-based development environments.
• Experience evaluating and integrating AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, OpenAI, Cursor, or Codex, including standards and guardrails.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience with agentic development workflows, MCP, tool orchestration, or AI workflow automation.
• Experience with AI security, secure execution environments, sandboxing, secrets management, or credential isolation.
• Experience with cloud-based or remote development environments.
