What you will do

• Lead and mentor a team of talented engineers in developing highly distributed and performant database systems.
• Drive technical, design, and product discussions relating to OLTP and HTAP workloads.
• Translate product requirements into engineering work for your team.
• Partner with other leaders in Engineering and Product for quarterly planning and project scheduling.
• Recruit and hire new team members while growing existing ones.
• Deliver on complex projects reliably while maintaining a high-quality bar.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience.
• 2+ years of experience leading teams to build database system internals.
• Possess strong engineering fundamentals.
• Demonstrate a track record of recruiting and leading technical teams.
• Proven experience authoring roadmap documents, project plans, and RCAs.
• Have strong problem-solving skills and excellent interpersonal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with open storage formats such as Delta Lake, Spark, or Iceberg.
• Developing cloud-scale distributed database system internals.
• Experience growing and leading senior and junior engineers in the team.
