What you will do

• Advise on product design, deployment, and lifecycle management ensuring legal compliance including data protection and AI regulations.
• Provide expert guidance on global privacy laws such as GDPR, CCPA, DORA, and emerging AI governance laws.
• Evaluate AI use cases and generative AI product features for regulatory and intellectual property risks.
• Counsel engineering teams on open-source license compliance and usage.
• Track evolving technology regulations and guide company compliance strategies.
• Collaborate with commercial legal teams on data protection addenda, licensing, and AI-related clauses.
• Develop and deliver internal training on privacy, AI, and technology law developments.

Requirements

• Must have Juris Doctor degree and active membership in a U.S. state bar.
• Minimum 8 years legal experience including 3+ years advising technology companies.
• Expertise in data privacy laws including GDPR and CCPA/CPRA and familiarity with AI governance frameworks.
• Strong understanding of software development and open-source licensing.
• Proven ability to provide practical, risk-based advice in fast-paced software environments.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with SaaS, cloud, or AI/ML-based products.
• IAPP certification with CIPP/E preferred; CIPP/US a plus.
• Prior in-house counsel experience at a technology company.
