Principal Architect (AI): Leading architectural design and building next-generation storage and computation fabric for the Search & AI Platform, making Bing and Copilot possible globally. Location: Redmond, United States. Expected to work from the office at least four days per week if living within a 50-mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S.

Salary: USD $163,000 – $296,400 per year (U.S. base); USD $220,800 – $331,200 per year (San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area).

What you will do

• Partner with stakeholders to translate user workflows and requirements into cohesive platform user experiences.
• Lead end-to-end architectural design for the platform, tooling, and services.
• Design and build foundational platform components, frameworks, and tooling.
• Serve as subject-matter expert to drive roadmap planning, release strategies, and workstream execution.
• Act as a senior DRI in a DevOps operating model, mentoring engineers and leading incident response.
• Research and evaluate emerging technologies to improve platform availability, reliability, security, and developer experience.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
• 8+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
