Senior Research Scientist, Catalyst Discovery (AI Simulation): Leading client engagements and deploying state-of-the-art computational workflows to discover and optimize novel heterogeneous catalyst materials with an accent on bridging proprietary simulations and industrial needs. Location: Remote (United States). Compensation is tiered based on geographic location within the US, with Tier 1 for candidates within 75 miles of San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, New York, Boston, and Washington, DC, and Tier 2 for all other US locations.
Salary: $146,644–$252,000

What you will do
- Lead high-impact client engagements focused on novel catalyst material discovery.
- Deploy multiscale computational workflows to simulate reactivity and dynamics.
- Support commercial growth through technical diligence and proposal development.
- Direct technical collaborations with industrial partners and serve as primary lead for project delivery.
- Prepare high-impact reports and presentations for stakeholders.
- Mentor junior scientists and interns in catalysis and reaction engineering.
Requirements
- PhD in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or an equivalent discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
- 3+ years of industrial R&D experience specifically in heterogeneous catalysis and/or reaction engineering.
- Direct experience developing and utilizing microkinetic models in collaboration with lab experiments for catalyst design.
- Familiarity with modern atomistic simulation methods for catalyst discovery.
- Strong publication record demonstrating interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Basic programming skills, including familiarity with Python.
Nice to have
- Proven experience supporting experimental groups with DFT-based atomistic simulations.
- Hands-on experience or familiarity with experimental methods (synthesis, testing, and characterization).
- Advanced software development skills in a High-Performance Computing (HPC) environment for materials analysis.
- Familiarity with recent developments in machine-learned force fields for materials discovery.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for in-person meetings with industrial partners.
