What you will do
- Lead, mentor, and grow a globally distributed team of engineers (backend, frontend, full-stack).
- Drive technical direction and execution for customer-facing billing experiences and billing APIs.
- Partner closely with Product, Design, Technical Leads, SRE, and peer Billing teams to deliver a modern, intuitive billing experience.
- Establish strong operational discipline: on-call excellence, incident follow-through, reliability metrics, and continuous improvement.
- Build clear roadmaps, define priorities, and ensure predictable delivery.
- Improve engineering quality, development workflows, testing infrastructure, and documentation.
Requirements
- Experience leading and growing diverse engineering teams as a people manager.
- A strong engineering foundation (backend or full-stack), enabling you to discuss architecture, design, and tradeoffs with confidence.
- Demonstrated ability to drive execution in a distributed, cross-team environment.
- A deep focus on operational excellence, reliability, and customer experience.
- Understanding of large-scale data pipelines, APIs, or complex distributed systems.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to influence and align across multiple stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Experience in billing systems, fintech, metering, subscription platforms, or financial reporting.
- Familiarity with any of the major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Experience building and operating customer-facing financial UX or APIs.
- Background as a hands-on software engineer (backend, full-stack, or systems).
- Exposure to compliance frameworks (SOX or similar) or secure data handling.
