User Researcher

TL;DR

User Researcher: Working within multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality digital services for public sector clients and devising appropriate research strategies to generate focused insights with an accent on informing service development and turning user research data into actionable insights. Focus on making sense where there is very little framework or direction, solving complex user experience challenges, and mentoring junior researchers while leading research for a program of work.

Location: Hybrid in the UK (Birmingham, Manchester, Woking, Telford, Worthing, Liverpool, London). Must be based in the UK and have existing permission to work in the UK. Sponsorship will not be provided. Expected to work from a hirify.global office a minimum of 2 days a week and be willing to travel.

What you will do

• Work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality digital services for public sector and private sector clients.
• Devise and apply research strategies with Service and Product Managers to generate focused insights for service development.
• Plan, design, and conduct research (including interviews, prototype testing, usability testing) to test new service ideas and gather user requirements.
• Design, script, and analyse quantitative surveys; manage qualitative/quantitative research projects.
• Present findings, recommendations, and customer insights to senior decision makers and help deliver consistent user experience.
• Contribute to product development, mentor junior User Researchers, and participate in the wider user research community.

Requirements

• Extensive knowledge and proven experience of Human Factors and User Centred Design.
• Proven experience in planning research, segmenting user populations, recruiting representative samples, and ensuring inclusivity.
• Familiarity with managing, executing, and analysing a range of human-focused research methods (usability testing, interviews, surveys, workshops).
• Able to identify user needs and act as a persuasive advocate for users, including those with accessibility requirements.
• Experience of research in government contexts, GDS assurance events, and working in an agile development environment.
• Must be based in the UK with existing work permission and continuous residency for the last 5 years for Security Check (SC) clearance. Sponsorship will not be provided.
